155,000 Acres, 25 Miles of Coastline,
Santa Cruz, Argentina

Through a donation made by CP via Fundación Vida Silvestre of Argentina, Argentina's oldest conservation NGO (and WWF affiliate), Estancia Monte Leon was purchased in 2001 and donated to Argentine National Parks to become the first coastal national park of the country. This project was a landmark model for conservation between the private and public sector and partnership with a local NGO. In less than four years the property, long considered one of the most important areas for conservation along the Argentine Atlantic coastline, was purchased, a long-term management plan created, and the legislative steps completed, to form Monte Leon National Park - a timeline almost unheard of for the creation of a new national park today.
